Megchan translated Ittouryoudan as Gordian Knot, but it literally means "cutting in two with a single stroke; taking decisive (drastic) measure; cutting the (Gordian) knot". The Gordian Knot was a legendary knot that was said to be impossible to untie - but whoever did untie it would conquer Asia. Alexander the Great attempted to untie the knot, but upon finding that there was no end of it to untie, simply slashed it apart with his sword.
